Start With a Queen

For newly caught or newly purchased queens during the founding stage.
Keep things deliberately simple with a secure test-tube setup, darkness and minimal disturbance while the queen raises her first generation of workers.

Start your first colony with a UK flight-caught queen, an appropriately sized founding setup and clear care guidance from arrival through to the first workers.

First Workers / Extra Space

Once the first workers arrive, the colony begins needing safe access to food and eventually more foraging space. Start with the smallest practical setup and only add extra space when feeding, cleaning or worker activity makes it useful.

Early Colony Expansion
